Chapter -2 The notification

The notification

A few weeks later, my phone lit up with an Instagram notification. His name appeared on the screen.

I already knew him by face by presence but that was the first time I learned his name: Aadi.

I stared at the screen for a second, surprised. Not because I had been waiting for him to text me I wasn’t.

Not because I had a crush I didn’t.

I was just… glad he had noticed me.

Funny how the smallest things can make you smile for no reason at all. I went back home, and a few hours later, I accepted the request and followed him back. We didn’t become friends overnight. No sudden conversations. No dramatic shift.

Life stayed exactly the same.

Days passed.

Then came 22nd November 2022.

It was my best friend’s birthday, and we went to a café in town to celebrate. Coincidentally, it was near my coaching center.

It was supposed to be an ordinary evening.

I had no idea the universe had other plans.

And then

I saw him..... Not alone his friends were there too.

Out of all the cafés, all the days, all the timings… somehow we ended up in the same place.

I noticed him. He noticed me. And we both did absolutely nothing about it. I told my friends he was from my coaching, and left it at that.

Why would I do anything… right? No one walked over. No greetings. No movie moment.

We just existed in the same space, pretending not to notice too much.

Eventually, I left. The evening ended…......or so I thought.

Later at home, I told my sister every tiny detail, unable to hide the smile on my face. Not because I liked him but because of how strange timing can be.

That night, I posted a story on Instagram. And then boom.....

He replied for the first time. “Why did you leave? I was looking for you. I was coming to say hi.”

I replied, “I was getting late.”

He asked, “Why aren’t you coming to classes?”

And for the first time, I told him the truth that I didn’t think I could do it anymore… that somewhere along the way, I had lost faith in myself.

That was our first conversation. Nothing extraordinary. Not even long. I wasn’t interested at first. Not yet.

But when it ended i remember smiling not because i liked him.

But because the boy with the crooked teeth was no longer just a stranger from class.

For the first time, he felt like a pause the universe had been building up to.
